Thanks Thomas!

I added dirt to the underside of the plane, trying to represent dirt and mud getting pushed up by the prop and wheels. Always made my WWI planes very clean and wanted to try something different.

Undercarriage, engine and guns went in, and as you can see the first rigging is done.

Propeller painted with oils over acrylic, will add some layers of transparent orange to get the a varnished look.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, big thanks to you all for the encouragement! The kit is just great and I feel happy with the result so far, hope I can keep that feeling. I really enjoy building wwi planes, it's challenging trying to recreate all the different materials and colours, but also very very awarding when the kit starts to come together and you see the result as a whole.

Working on turnbuckles for the rigging, will share some photos later.

Last weeks progress:

Prop, tinted, varnished and dryfitted

20180416_200845.jpg

Eyelets made from speaker cable (think it's 0,15 mm) wrapped around a 0,25mm drill bit. And brass tube 0,4 x 0,25 cut into 3mm pieces.

Eyelets in place

And with the brass tube and elastic line

One side ready, one to go

And this is how she sits today

Hopefully I will get the rigging done this week and then there's a lot of touching up to do.

My plan was to keep the satin finish but I think I will add a flat coat at least to the wings and just keep the fuselage satin?

Regarding the rigging I haven't decided if I should keep it black or paint it with some metal paint?

Please let me know what you guys think

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys!

So rigging is done and I spent a few hours touching up a few mistakes. Kind of "dry brushed" the rigging and added a flat coat to most surfaces. Kept the "wood" satin. Added some earth pigments here and there. Think I'm kind of done with this now.

Those of you that followed any of my previous builds know that I always put my models on some kind of base, and this one will be no exception.

Went through my stash and spare parts in hunt for suitable parts, think these will do the job together with the black dog figures.

And I've also started on the base itself

Some more pics, been working on the base and this is the planking painted and groundwork just base painted with cheap acrylics.

20180424_201928.jpg
Built up with plaster and pigments, and  some puddles added

20180426_212009.jpg
Will continue to play around with pigments and different varnishes until I'm happy with the result, also planning for some static grass.

Accessories are ready

If everything goes as planned I'm looking forward to some serious bench time this weekend and that will hopefully mean a lot of time for figure painting.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks! Don't know about masterpiece but I'm feeling happy with the result, much thanks to a great kit. There are of course things I wish I've done differently but I learn something new with every build.

All the models coming together in this GB are fantastic, very inspiring to follow!

Got some paint on the mechanic, I'm no figure painter but I like adding them to my builds, still need a lot of practice. This one is painted with acrylics.
