Time for a small update to show that I'm still with you guys [smile]

Thank you all for your positive feedback!

Managed to get the wings sorted out took a bit of filling and sanding, perhaps mostly due to my hasty glue work.

The control surfaces looks like this

I don't really think they look convincing at all, much to deep, so I  partially filled the depressions and stippled them with Mr. surfacer 1200 to emulate the canvas.

Maybe it's to much of a effect but I think they will look interesting on the finished model.

I also finished the bombs (when I got tired of the wings [smile] )
My reference, also thinking of trying to scratch build one of those interesting looking bomb trolleys for my dio

My version...

I've been thinking of trying the Akah paint range since I saw Bobby's review and what better time then when you build a Russian plane?! So this will be the paints I use for the exterior at least.

Thanks for watching and just want to say that everyone in this GB are doing some fantastic work I follow all the threads with great interest, truly inspiring!!

Pete, I'm guessing sponge technique. ??

Looks really cool like that. As if they have been dragged around a muddy field.

Thanks!

The bombs are painted with a base coat of Vallejo black green and then shaded and highlighted with different shades off that colour. After a dark wash and a glossy coat I played around with black and white oil paints and finished it with light grey pigments and a matt coat.

Must admit that before I did some research I was on my way painting them in olive drab but as I found out vvs painted their bombs with a thick sticky layer of a blackish colour to protect them from
moisture. It's kind of hard to find good references for this project (had been easier if I mastered Russian or Mandarin Google translate only get you so far) but this also makes it more interesting as I learn a lot on the way!

A small update. I managed to erase all the photos from when I built the interior but this is how it turned out. Tried to get a feeling of a dirty interior where many muddy russian boots have stepped. Struggled a bit with the PE, especially the levers they are so tiny IMO  anyway [smile]

Rear gunner area

Thanks for watching! /Daniel
