And while it was in the airbrush I sprayed the tank that goes under the trailer

Bottom of the trailer was sprayed black and masked ready for me to paint the body white

White getting laid down

Roof was sprayed with Alclads and the patchiness showed through nicely ( not sure if it's true to life but I like it ) it looks grey in the pics but trust me it is metalic looking to the eye but it is quite a dull finish as the surface wasn't smooth

I used a couple of drops of flat black in a load of thinner and str try to add some shade

Weathering is beginning to go on. This is a work in progress and I will be toning down the rust

You can see I've built up the shade along the sides of the trailer

Wow that looks totally real. All of the interstate and state highways around us are heavily traveled by 18 wheelers 24/7. Your work is spot on.
I meant to mention earlier in the thread that household ammonia will strip model chrome off very quickly and I think it's cheaper?

Thanks Ted

I used ammonia intitially and it took the chrome layer off really quickly but underneath that was a kind of clear coat that I think will make top coats a little bit fragile and that is really tough to strip, I had to sand it in the end.

Did a little bit of detail painting to the front of the trailer and used some Decals I found in my leftovers

The decals can't be made out by eye but up close it seems that some of it is in Italian lol. The warning triangle is a bit wonky ( I didn't notice it until I saw this pic )

I used some black/brown wash in and around the metallic strips

And some more scrap decals on the back doors ( these are still in base colour and need details and weathering adding )
The decals are from a 1/48 eurofighter I think

Used the same number decal on the side of the trailer

Mixed a drop of Tamiya wooden deck tan in some white and a ton of thinner and sprayed it up the sides of the trailer
